The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Perpetual Calendar 25636PT is the platinum execution of reference 25636, the openworked perpetual calendar Audemars Piguet released in 1986 and the first skeletonised perpetual calendar the manufacture ever made. Behind a sapphire dial there is no dial: the calibre 2120/2800, the ultra-thin 2120 automatic carrying a perpetual calendar module, is cut away so the going train shows through the whole face, with blue-rimmed rings for day, date and month and a moonphase at six. Just over 300 were built across every metal, only a few dozen in platinum. (Monochrome, Hairspring) PT is Audemars Piguet's code for platinum, the reason a 39 mm Royal Oak reads as steel from any distance. Pharrell Williams wore his in the video for Frontin' (2003). (Luxury Bazaar, Boss Hunting)
