IMWDb:Privacy policy
More actions
IMWDb collects as little as a public reference site can.
What we collect
- Submissions. If you send a watch sighting, correction, or image, we receive the email address, details, optional image, and IP address associated with the submission. If you ask for attribution, we may keep the name or credit line you provide with the published record.
- Logs. The web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, user agent, pages requested) for a limited time, used only for abuse prevention and debugging.
- Cookies. Session cookies and preference cookies may be set by the site software for basic operation.
- Analytics. IMWDb uses Google Analytics 4 to understand aggregate readership: which pages are popular, where visitors come from, and how readers move through the site. Google Analytics may set first-party analytics cookies. Campaign parameters may be retained for the current browser-tab session. Analytics data is used in aggregate; IMWDb does not use it to build individual reader profiles.
Affiliate links
Some links to watch retailers may be affiliate links: if you buy through them, IMWDb may earn a commission at no cost to you. Affiliate links can carry a random click ID and campaign parameters, and the destination site sets its own cookies under its own privacy policy. IMWDb may retain the click time, merchant, page and catalog context, destination host/path, campaign parameters, and Google Analytics client ID for reconciliation. The affiliate click table does not store the reader's raw IP address or email address. Affiliate relationships never influence which watches are cataloged or how they are described.
What we do not do
- No selling of personal data or sending submission contents to analytics, affiliate networks, or advertisers. Service providers such as the hosting, email, analytics, and affiliate platforms process only the data needed for their stated function under their own terms.
- No third-party advertising banners, ad-retargeting pixels, or fingerprinting.
- No individual profiling of readers or submitters.
Your choices
- You can read everything on IMWDb without an account and without accepting any nonessential cookies.
- If you want attribution changed or removed from a submission, contact an administrator.
Retention
Server logs rotate automatically. Published catalog content is retained indefinitely. Raw first-party affiliate click records are retained for no more than 90 days, after which only aggregate reporting may remain. Resolved or rejected submission emails and attachments are deleted within 90 days unless a documented moderation, abuse, attribution, or legal need requires longer retention. Google Analytics user-level event data is configured for a two-month retention period.
