IMWDb, the Internet Movie Watch Database, is a horology reference for watches worn on screen and mentioned in books. It is a curated catalog spanning film, television, anime, video games, music videos, and books, cross-referenced by watch, brand, reference, title, and actor. If a character wears it on screen or on the page, IMWDb sets out to identify the brand, model, and exact reference, from James Bond's Omega to the Casio on a background extra.
Horological scope
The catalog records the details that distinguish one watch from another: watchmaker, model, reference, movement, period, and the evidence supporting an identification. It is built so a horologist, collector, costume researcher, or screen historian can move beyond a generic brand-level identification.
The project is modeled on the Internet Movie Firearms Database, which has done the same for firearms since 2007. Like IMFDB, IMWDb is built on MediaWiki, and appearance data is structured: each sighting is logged once on the film or show's page, and watch pages, actor pages, and manufacturer pages assemble themselves from those records.
How it works
- Movie, show, game, and book pages hold the appearance records: which watch, worn by whom, playing what role.
- Watch pages list every logged appearance of that reference automatically.
- Actor pages list everything that person has worn on screen.
- Brand pages collect a watchmaker's cataloged watches and horological context.
Contributing
Reading is open to everyone. To suggest an addition or correction, use the submission form on the Main Page and an editor will review it. Identifications should be verifiable; when an identification is disputed or unconfirmed, the catalog notes that uncertainty. Watches nobody has pinned down yet live under the Unidentified manufacturer until someone solves them.

The seed catalog was compiled from enthusiast publications, forums, and community databases, all credited on IMWDb:Sources. Facts about who wore what are not owned by anyone, but the communities who did the spotting deserve the recognition.
