The Bulova 96A102 is the commemorative reissue of the hack watch Bulova supplied to US forces in the Second World War, and it was cheap: Worn & Wound reviewed it in 2011 for under $100. The 40 mm sandblasted steel case sits under a domed acrylic crystal, and its quartz caliber 7584 is a Miyota, Citizen having bought Bulova in 2008. (Worn & Wound; JCK) The dial is the 1940s article: matte black, Arabics in pale green lume, a 24-hour ring starting at 13, and a running-seconds subdial at 6. That subdial is the point of the name: a hack watch stops its seconds hand when the crown is pulled, so soldiers can synchronise to the second, and the quartz reissue does the same without technically being a hack movement.
