The Carl F. Bucherer Manero AutoDate is the dress three-hander of a small Lucerne house, family-owned since 1888 and among the last Swiss makers still in one family's hands. A 38 mm steel case holds the automatic calibre CFB 1965, good for 42 hours and left visible through a sapphire back, under a silvered dial that carries applied indices, a date at three and nothing further. The restraint is the design: at 38 mm it sits a size below most steel dress watches of its 2010 arrival, and it takes no complication beyond the date. (Carl F. Bucherer)
