Cartier Tank Américaine
More actions
The Cartier Tank Américaine is the elongated Tank Cartier introduced in 1989, its case drawn from the curved Tank Cintrée of 1921 but stretched to bolder proportions. It has never been one watch: the 1989 launch was two quartz references in yellow and white gold; in 1993 the case grew to 44 mm and took ultra-thin manual-wind movements in precious metal; and in 2017 the line returned in steel in three sizes, a quartz small model alongside automatic medium and large ones. No single reference stands for that record, because those are materially different watches. The current large steel model is the automatic ref. WSTA0083, with a silvered satin-brushed dial, blued-steel sword hands and a faceted blue spinel in the crown. (Monochrome; Cartier)
