The Casio CA-506-1 is the steel calculator watch Casio released in 1984: a rectangular stainless-steel case on a matching folded-link bracelet, with a twenty-key membrane pad in five rows below the LCD and CALCULATOR printed across the dial plate. Module 437 gives an eight-digit calculator handling the four functions with chain and mixed operations, alongside a dual-time display, alarm and stopwatch. (Digital-Watch.com; Casio Operation Guide 437/438/3208) What the CA-506 does not have is memory: not even the register Casio's data-bank modules put behind their MC, MR, M− and M+ keys, so the keypad does sums and nothing else. That is the fork the model sits on: Casio dates the CD-40, with room for ten telephone numbers, to 1984 as well, and the CA-506 stayed on the calculator side. (Casio Vintage Collection)
