The Casio G-Shock DW-5700 is the round-faced branch of the early G-Shock family, an evolution of the 1985 DW-5400 that carried the shock-isolated digital module into a circular resin bezel with 200 m water resistance, alarm and chronograph. Original DW-5700C production used modules 691 and 901. (G-Central; Watch Archive) It is widely nicknamed the "Sting," after the musician who wore one through the mid-1980s, and its softer round outline lets it pass under a shirt cuff far more discreetly than the blockier square 5600, the quality that makes it plausible on a suited federal agent rather than only in the field. Long discontinued, the design was revived in 2017 as the DW-5750E, sharing the display and functions of the DW-5600.
