The Casio G-Shock DW-6600 is the digital G-Shock introduced in 1994 and the first in the line to pair a front-mounted light button with an electroluminescent panel that lights the whole display rather than one corner. The resin case is shock resistant and water resistant to 200 metres, and the module offers a 1/100-second stopwatch with split and 1st–2nd place timing, a countdown timer, daily alarms and an hourly signal, all on a CR2016 cell. Casio kept it in production until 2010 and revived the design in 2023. Light, cheap and readable in the dark, it was widely worn by US military personnel, including Navy SEALs, in place of far costlier watches. (G-Central, G-Central)
