The Casio GW-M500A-1 is not one of the 5600-family squares its number invites: it is a round-bezelled solar digital G-Shock, released on 1 November 2012 with a metallic silver face on a black resin band. Module 3405 runs it on Tough Solar charging, holding ±15 seconds a month with no calibration signal and nine months of reserve away from light. The A suffix is a functional revision rather than a finish: against its predecessor it adds reception of the Chinese BPC transmitter, completing the Multi-Band 6 set beside WWVB, MSF, DCF77 and the two JJY stations, adds eighteen cities to world time for 48 across 31 zones, and retires the time-memo function in favour of the countdown timer.
