Cat wristwatch
More actions
An unidentified novelty wristwatch worn by Taylor Swift in You Need To Calm Down (2019). The video gives it a full-frame close-up: a pale lilac dial filled by a pen-and-ink cat's head, whiskers running under hand-drawn Arabic numerals, red hands, a polished round case, and a mint-turquoise strap. The numeral at one o'clock is a 13 rather than a 1, Swift's signature number. (CNN) The character dial is one of the industry's oldest formats, made commercially serious when Ingersoll-Waterbury's 1933 Mickey Mouse sold two million watches in eighteen months and pulled the company back from collapse. (Connecticut History) Nothing here is branded, and the 13 does not settle whether the watch is stock or made for the video.
