Marco Kreuzpaintner's courtroom thriller, from Ferdinand von Schirach's 2011 novel, gives the rookie Berlin defence lawyer Caspar Leinen (Elyas M'Barek) the case of Fabrizio Collini (Franco Nero), an Italian who has killed a respected industrialist without explanation; Heiner Lauterbach plays the prosecuting star lawyer Richard Mattinger and Alexandra Maria Lara the victim's granddaughter Johanna.
