ZDF's hospital drama, produced from 1984 to 1988 and first broadcast from 1985 to 1989, follows chief surgeon Professor Klaus Brinkmann (Klausjürgen Wussow) at a private clinic in the Black Forest's Glottertal, with Gaby Dohm as nurse Christa, who becomes his wife, and Sascha Hehn as his son Udo; at its peak it was among the most watched series in West German television history.
