The F.P. Journe Chronomètre Souverain is the time-only watch that made François-Paul Journe's name among collectors as the benchmark for the form. Its distinction is hidden: an extra-flat movement whose baseplate and bridges are cut from solid 18-karat rose gold rather than the usual brass, twin mainspring barrels feeding the escapement an unusually even force for over 56 hours, all in the pursuit of chronometer-grade precision. The dial reads asymmetrically — small seconds at seven, power reserve at three — in a 40 mm gold case.
