The Garmin Forerunner 235 is a GPS running watch that Garmin introduced in October 2015, built around wrist-based heart rate so runners no longer needed a chest strap. Its in-house Elevate optical sensor uses three green LEDs to read pulse from the back of the case, both during workouts and around the clock, while a GPS-and-GLONASS receiver logs distance and pace on a colour display. Training features include a VO2 max estimate after each run, a Virtual Pacer and a built-in accelerometer for indoor distance.
