The Oris Big Crown ProPilot Altimeter is the aviation watch Oris unveiled in 2014 as the world's first automatic mechanical wristwatch with a mechanical altimeter. Its 47 mm stainless-steel case carries two crowns: one at two o'clock for time and date, and a screw-down crown at four o'clock that operates a built-in aneroid altimeter, reading altitude on a rotating scale up to 15,000 feet or 4,500 metres depending on the version. A lightweight carbon-fibre altimeter hand and a PTFE moisture-barrier membrane were engineered for the mechanism. Timekeeping comes from the automatic Oris calibre 733, a Sellita-based movement running at 28,800 vph with about 38 hours of reserve. (Oris, Time and Watches)
