The Patek Philippe 3970P is the platinum version of reference 3970, the perpetual calendar chronograph Patek produced from 1986 to 2004 as successor to the historic 2499, keeping its 36 mm case and 1940s dial layout while adding a leap-year and 24-hour indicator. Its manual caliber CH 27-70 Q, derived from the Lemania 2310, was the first chronograph movement to carry the Geneva Seal, and platinum examples are the rarest of the reference's metal variants.
