The Richard Mille RM 52-01 is a manual-winding tourbillon built around a skull, released in 2013 as a limited edition of thirty. Its curved tonneau case measures 50 by 42.7 mm and pairs a nano-ceramic bezel and caseback with carbon-nanotube reinforcement around the movement. The skull is not printed on a dial but forms the movement's central architecture: its jaws hold the jewel of the flying tourbillon's carriage, and four bridges link the sculpted, hand-bevelled skull to the case. The RM052 calibre sits on a PVD-treated grade-5 titanium baseplate and offers roughly a 48-hour power reserve.
