Rolex Day-Date 18038
More actions
The Rolex Day-Date 18038 is the yellow-gold Day-Date Rolex introduced in 1978, the reference that modernized the model the brand reserves for solid gold and platinum alone — the watch that spells the weekday in full in an arc at twelve, above the date at three, a display Rolex first managed on the Day-Date in 1956. The 18038 was the first Day-Date with a sapphire crystal in place of acrylic, and it swapped the older "pie-pan" dial for a flat one and the earlier movement for the calibre 3055 with a quickset date. A 36 mm case, fluted bezel and the semicircular-link President bracelet make it the watch shorthand for money and office power, which is exactly the reading it carries on screen. (BeckerTime)
