Rolex Submariner 116613LB
More actions
The Rolex Submariner 116613LB is the two-tone Submariner Date collectors call the "Bluesy": Yellow Rolesor (18k gold worked into Oystersteel across case, bracelet centre links and crown) under a blue Cerachrom ceramic bezel and a matching blue dial. Introduced in 2009 when Rolex reworked the Submariner line onto the Maxi case with a ceramic insert and the Glidelock clasp, it runs the automatic Calibre 3135 with a Parachrom hairspring in a 40 mm case rated to 300 m, and was discontinued when the 41 mm generation arrived in 2020. Its deliberately conspicuous middle position (flashier than steel, short of solid gold) is the joke the film plays on: Jim Carrey's newly moneyed Thomas Popper wears one throughout Mr. Popper's Penguins (2011).
