Zenith El Primero Chronomaster 02.0240.410

The Zenith El Primero Chronomaster 02.0240.410 is a triple-calendar moon-phase chronograph built on Zenith's El Primero, the integrated automatic chronograph caliber Zenith introduced in 1969 and still runs at 36,000 vibrations per hour for tenth-of-a-second timing. This execution wraps that high-beat movement in a ~40 mm steel case with a silvered guilloché dial, day and month apertures, a date subdial and moon phase at six. The El Primero's survival is itself a piece of horological lore: when Zenith's American owners ordered the mechanical-chronograph program shut down in the 1970s, watchmaker Charles Vermot hid the tooling and blueprints, and those plans let Zenith revive the caliber in the 1980s. It is worn by Mads Mikkelsen as Dr. Hannibal Lecter in Hannibal (2013).
