The Cartier Santos Galbée is the curved evolution of the Santos, the square exposed-screw wristwatch Louis Cartier made for aviator Alberto Santos-Dumont in 1904, often called the first purpose-built pilot's watch, and relaunched as a steel-and-gold sports watch in 1978. "Galbée", French for curved, names the softened, ergonomically bowed case Cartier introduced in 1987; the line ran in quartz and automatic executions and several sizes until the mid-2010s, when the Santos de Cartier relaunch of 2018 succeeded it.
