The Cartier Tank Louis Cartier is the 1922 softening of the original Tank: the brancards refined, the corners rounded, the proportions stretched away from the military look of the 1917 design and towards a dress watch. Reference WGTA0011 is its rose-gold execution in the current catalogue, 33.7 × 25.5 mm and 6.6 mm thick, with a beaded crown set with a sapphire cabochon, a silvered dial, blued-steel sword hands and a brown alligator strap. The crystal is mineral rather than sapphire, which Cartier still specifies on a five-figure gold watch. It runs the manufacture hand-wound caliber 1917 MC, a movement only 2.9 mm high that Cartier originally developed for women's watches, which is why the power reserve stops at 38 hours.
