Ian Fleming's first James Bond novel sends Bond to the baccarat table against Le Chiffre, a ruined financier trying to recover his paymasters' money. Unlike later Bond books, the complete 1953 text does not support a named watch appearance; the often-repeated Rolex sentence attributed to this novel is absent from it. (Goodreads)
