The Casio G-Shock DW-5600BB-1 is the blacked-out square, added to the 5600 series in March 2012 as an ordinary catalogue model rather than a collaboration or a limited edition; Casio's catalogue carries a single reference under the DW-5600BB code, the -1, in black case, bezel and band. Underneath the finish it is the standard square, running module 3229, the same one that runs the plain DW-5600E (Casio). That module is deliberately short: an alarm, a countdown timer and a stopwatch, with no world time and no data bank. It does carry Flash Alert, which fires the electro-luminescent backlight in step with the alarm, the hourly signal and the timer's buzzer, useful where a beep will not carry.
