The Citizen Eco-Drive is Citizen's light-powered watch line, launched worldwide under the Eco-Drive name in 1995 after development that began with the 1976 Crystron Solar Cell. A solar cell beneath the dial charges a rechargeable cell that keeps the movement running without a battery change, and Citizen has built the technology into models from inexpensive steel sport watches through its higher-end collections.
