Heuer 1550 SG
More actions
The Heuer 1550 SG is the "Bund" chronograph Heuer supplied to the West German Luftwaffe from 1967 to 1968, a 42 mm brushed-steel front-loading case with a bidirectional bezel and a black luminous-numeral dial around the hand-wound Valjoux 230, a hacking column-wheel flyback chronograph at 18,000 vibrations per hour with a 48-hour reserve, issued on a leather cuff that kept the caseback off the wrist. Norway and Yugoslavia adopted it soon after Germany, the Norwegian issue carrying "Luftforsvaret" on the dial. (Fratello) Dials vary between the plain issue and the "3H" version whose red-circled mark denotes tritium lume, decades of Bundeswehr servicing put Valjoux 22 and 222 movements and later dials into many examples, and the design descends from the Léonidas military chronographs Heuer absorbed in 1964.
