The Mercury LED is the red-LED digital line sold in the late 1970s by Mercury Time of New York, one of many second-tier labels that bought pre-assembled LED modules and housed them in inexpensive gold-plated cushion cases during the 1975–1979 digital boom. The casebacks carry no model numbers, only metal composition and company name, so surviving examples are known by the brand alone. (RPF; Watch Paparazzi) The line's screen fame comes from Better Call Saul (2015), where a gold Mercury LED is Saul Goodman's daily watch; prop researchers identified the brand from the clasp logo and note that more than one may have been used. The gold-tone case is typically plated brass rather than gold-filled: appearance outrunning substance, which is why the costume choice works.
