Movado's bumper automatics began with the Tempomatic in 1945. Their early self-winding movements use a semicircular rotor that swings between spring-loaded bumpers rather than rotating freely through 360 degrees. Movado cased the mechanism in a range of steel, gold-capped and solid-gold mid-century dress watches. (HODINKEE)
