This "Rolex Daytona" is a fake: the page groups counterfeit props built to resemble a genuine Rolex Daytona, each identified as fake by its own production rather than an authentic example of Rolex's chronograph. Two unrelated productions stage the device at different Daytona generations. In My People, My Country, Wang Luoyong's Chief of Protocol An Wenbin wears a counterfeit built to resemble the two-tone or steel Daytona reference 16523 during the 1997 Hong Kong Handover segment; xbiao.com identifies it as counterfeit from a missing crown logo at 12 o'clock, an unscrewed water-resistance crown, and a sub-dial arrangement inconsistent with a genuine period-correct 16523. (xbiao.com) In Keep Calm and Be a Superstar, undercover private investigator Tie Zhu, played by Li Ronghao, is offered a counterfeit built to resemble the modern white-dial, ceramic-bezel Daytona at a market stall, the seller boasting a fabricated "only three in Asia" scarcity story before naming a price; 八卦兔 explicitly frames the scene as a fake-watch sale while judging the prop convincing on its own visual comparison against the genuine article, rather than merely repeating the film's dialogue. (八卦兔) Because every one of these props is a counterfeit, its real movement, materials, and dimensions are whatever unbranded parts its maker used: none of the Zenith El Primero-derived caliber genuine to the vintage 16523, nor the in-house caliber 4130 and ceramic bezel genuine to the modern reference, can honestly be credited to either prop.
