The Seiko SKX009 is the blue-dial, red-and-blue bezel version of the SKX dive family that Seiko introduced in 1996 as successor to the 7002, and built almost unchanged until the line was discontinued around 2019. Its steel cushion case carries a screw-down crown at four o'clock, a 120-click unidirectional bezel, a Hardlex crystal, a day-date window and LumiBrite hands and markers, rated to 200 metres and certified to the ISO 6425 diver's standard rather than merely marked for it. The automatic 7S26 inside beats at 21,600 vph and winds bidirectionally through Seiko's Magic Lever, but neither hacks nor hand-winds. Sold for years under $200, it became the standing recommendation for a first mechanical diver. (Time and Tide, Monochrome)
