Andre Braugher (1962–2023) was an American actor and Juilliard-trained Shakespearean who won Emmys as Detective Frank Pembleton in Homicide: Life on the Street and for the miniseries Thief. His late-career turn as the magnificently deadpan Captain Raymond Holt across all eight seasons of Brooklyn Nine-Nine earned four Emmy nominations and redefined him as a comic actor. (Wikipedia)
