Christopher Plummer was a Canadian actor, 1929 to 2021, with a stage and screen career spanning seven decades. Best known to a general audience as Captain von Trapp in The Sound of Music, he won the Academy Award for Beginners at 82, the oldest acting winner, and played the crime novelist Harlan Thrombey in Knives Out.
