Laura Pausini, born in 1974, is an Italian singer-songwriter who broke through by winning the 1993 Sanremo Music Festival with "La solitudine" and went on to record across Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and English markets, selling more than 70 million records. She won a Grammy Award for Best Latin Pop Album in 2006 and, with Diane Warren and Niccolò Agliardi, took the 2021 Golden Globe for Best Original Song for "Io sì (Seen)" from The Life Ahead, the first Italian-language song to win that award and a piece that went on to earn her an Academy Award nomination.
