Lee Strasberg (1901–1982) was an American acting teacher and actor who co-founded the Group Theatre in 1931 and directed the Actors Studio from 1951, shaping American Method acting. He took few screen roles; his Hyman Roth in The Godfather Part II, played opposite his former student Al Pacino at Pacino's suggestion, earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
