Mickey Rooney (born Joseph Yule Jr., September 23, 1920 – April 6, 2014) was an American actor whose career spanned nearly nine decades and more than 300 films. A top box-office draw from 1939 to 1941 on the strength of the Andy Hardy series and his musicals opposite Judy Garland, he later won acclaim for grittier adult roles such as Dan Brady in Quicksand (1950) and found a second career on Broadway in Sugar Babies (1979).
