Peter Coyote (born 1941, New York) is an American actor and narrator who came to film from the San Francisco counterculture, having been a member of the Diggers before turning to acting in his late thirties. He played the government agent known only as Keys in E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, the crippled writer Oscar in Roman Polanski's Bitter Moon, and Erin Brockovich's boss Kurt Potter, and his voice work on documentary series has won him multiple Emmy Awards.
