Peter Graves (1926–2010) was an American actor from Minneapolis, the younger brother of Gunsmoke star James Arness. After Army Air Force service in World War II, he built a decades-long career headlined by Jim Phelps, the team leader he played across both the original Mission: Impossible (1967–1973) and its late-1980s revival, winning a Golden Globe for the role. He later found a second career in deadpan comedy as Captain Clarence Oveur in Airplane! and hosted the long-running A&E series Biography. (Wikipedia)
