Walter Matthau (1920–2000) was an American actor known for his gravelly voice and rumpled comic persona, often paired on screen with Jack Lemmon in films including The Odd Couple (1968) and Grumpy Old Men (1993). He won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for The Fortune Cookie (1966) and a Tony Award for Best Actor for the Broadway run of The Odd Couple. (Wikipedia)
