Futari wa Pretty Cure (2004)

Daisuke Nishio directed this Toei Animation series, the first installment of Izumi Todo's Pretty Cure franchise, broadcasting on ABC and TV Asahi from February 1, 2004, to January 30, 2005. Athletic Nagisa Misumi and studious Honoka Yukishiro are second-year middle schoolers who meet the mysterious creatures Mepple and Mipple, living inside cellphone-like "Card Communicon" devices; swiping Pretty Cure Cards through them, Nagisa and Honoka transform into Cure Black and Cure White to defend the Garden of Light from the Dark Zone's invasion.
