Madhouse's 26-episode television adaptation of the first part of Nobuyuki Fukumoto's gambling manga, directed by Yuzo Sato and broadcast on Nippon TV from 3 October 2007 to 2 April 2008, follows the debt-ridden Kaiji Ito through the Teiai group's death games to the E-Card match against executive Yukio Tonegawa, whose wristwatch doubles as a cheating device. Watches
- Breitling Chronomat 13050
- During the E-Card match, which the anime takes up from episode 15, Tonegawa wears his watch on the inside of his wrist so that its three subdials can show Kaiji's pulse, temperature and perspiration, relayed from the earpiece Kaiji wears as part of the bet; Kaiji's discovery of the device follows the manga's chapters 120 to 123. In Breitling's 2026 brand feature, creator Nobuyuki Fukumoto says he modeled the watch on the Chronomat Ref.13050, chosen for a chronograph layout that could carry the readouts. That statement concerns his manga design, which the Madhouse adaptation reproduces; the anime frame has not been checked here against the reference, so the drawn watch's match to the 13050's rider-tab bezel and tri-compax dial rests on the creator's account.
