Osamu Tezuka's Jungle Emperor (ジャングル大帝) manga, serialized from 1950, follows Kimba (originally named Leo), a white lion cub who survives a shipwreck after his father Panja's death and returns to the African jungle determined to build a peaceful coexistence between animals and humans. Mushi Production's television adaptation, credited as the first color animated series produced in Japan, premiered on Fuji TV on October 6, 1965. (Wikipedia)
