Mao is a mystery supernatural television anime adapting Rumiko Takahashi's 2019–2024 manga of the same name. Produced by Sunrise, it airs on NHK General on Saturdays at 23:45, beginning April 4, 2026, across 26 episodes. Nanoka Kiba falls through a portal into the Taishō era, where exorcist Mao reluctantly saves her from a monstrous yōkai; back in the present, she discovers new powers of her own and returns to the past to investigate a string of murders alongside Mao, who is cursed by a cat demon named Byoki bound to his blade.
