Wakana Gojo, a withdrawn high schooler who secretly crafts traditional hina dolls, is drawn out of his isolation when popular, outgoing classmate Marin Kitagawa discovers his sewing talent and asks him to build cosplay costumes for her; their partnership, spanning conventions, photoshoots, and increasingly ambitious builds, becomes the backbone of the series as the pair grows closer.
