The Pierrot television-anime adaptation of Masashi Kishimoto's manga, following the young ninja Naruto Uzumaki. (IMDb) Directed by Hayato Date, the series ran 220 episodes on TV Tokyo from 3 October 2002 to 8 February 2007, covering Part I of Kishimoto's manga. Naruto is an orphan of the Village Hidden in the Leaves who carries a sealed nine-tailed fox, trains under Kakashi Hatake alongside Sasuke Uchiha and Sakura Haruno, and aims to be recognised as Hokage; the teenage years continue in Naruto: Shippuden, which Studio Pierrot aired from 2007 to 2017.
