Nobuyoshi Habara directed this seven-chapter theatrical anime series, produced by Xebec for the Space Battleship Yamato 2202 Production Committee, a revival continuing the story after the original 1974 series. Its chapters opened in Japanese theaters from February 25, 2017, to March 1, 2019, also released as Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 2202 abroad. Three years after peace with the Gamilas Empire, Earth commissions a new fleet including the battleship Andromeda as the militaristic Gatlantis Empire threatens the galaxy, and Susumu Kodai, Yuki Mori, and the Yamato crew answer the goddess Teresa's call to return to space.
