Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf (2024)

Studio Passione's television anime remake of Isuna Hasekura's light novel series, directed by Hijiri Sanpei with Takeo Takahashi as chief director. Traveling merchant Kraft Lawrence discovers the wolf deity Holo, centuries old and once worshipped for the harvest, asleep in the back of his cart; she strikes a bargain to travel north toward her long-abandoned homeland in exchange for lending her uncanny business sense to his trade, and the pair's partnership deepens across a medieval-Europe-inspired landscape of merchant guilds and market towns. The series aired in two cours from 2 April to 24 September 2024, including a story arc left unadapted by the original 2008 series beginning with episode 20 on 19 August 2024, with Jun Fukuyama and Ami Koshimizu reprising Lawrence and Holo from that earlier adaptation; a second season was announced in September 2024 for a 2026 broadcast.
