From IMWDb
Body Count

William Turner Huggett's novel of the Vietnam War, copyright 1973 and read here in a Dell paperback cataloged as 1983, follows Lieutenant Chris Hawkins, a Marine who volunteered against the tears of the girl he calls Poo and takes over a platoon that has been run for months by its staff sergeant, on the way to Khe Sanh. (Open Library)

Watches

Omega (unidentified model)
Three and a half weeks into his tour, writing letters, Hawkins thinks of the one person he would like a letter from and touches the Omega she gave him; a later page remembers it as Poo's small package at his last birthday party (p. 238). From then on it is simply the Omega: checked outside a mess hall at six (p. 153) and read by its luminous hands at night, worn on the inside of his wrist, at eleven thirty and at twelve ten (pp. 243, 277). The maker is named; the model is not.
