Concrete Candy (1996)

Apollo's collection of stories about young people in Oakland was published by Anchor in April 1996, when its author, born in 1980 according to the Internet Archive record, was a teenager; the Library of Congress files it under teenagers' writings. It opens with "Four Wolves and a Panther", in which Jamie, a thirteen-year-old white street kid, runs with the Wolves in a West Oakland warehouse; in "Bad Boyz", Jamar, who has moved up from selling to little kids, takes a drive-by job from Razor. Casio (unidentified model): In "Bad Boyz", Jamar, who resents being reminded that he once sold to little kids, takes a drive-by from Razor: some Bloods jumped one of their boys at Richmond BART, the red-rags hang outside Khan's Klub on Friday nights, and Zombie, the crack smoker Jamar once robbed trick-or-treaters with, will bring an Uzi to his place at eight. After dark Jamar waits outside his apartment building, leaning on his Neon and smoking a Kool, and glances at his Casio: 8:13 and no Zombie. Footsteps turn out to be two twelve-year-olds selling cookies, whom he robs of a box at gunpoint before Zombie arrives with the Uzi under a parka. The maker is named; the model is not.
