Watches
- Ingersoll watch
- A hurried customer glances at his Ingersoll watch before rushing off, using the inexpensive watch as a quick everyday time check. The customer has just finished two cups of coffee in the lunch-room. His glance at the watch ends the exchange with Mame and sends him out in a hurry. The named Ingersoll therefore belongs to this passing customer, rather than to the physician whose name supplies the novel's title. (Project Gutenberg source text)
